Hitler's Eagle's Nest

As we drove through Germany, the tour took us to the Eagle's Nest of Hitler's Berchtesgaden. We rode to the top in the brass elevator that Hitler used. The mountain retreat was a 5oth birthday present designed by Albert Speer, Hitler's chief architect and a member of his inner circle.

It was impressive to see how much work went into a building that was used so seldom.
