Hitler's Eagle's Nest

As we drove through Germany, the tour took us to the Eagle's Nest of Hitler's Berchtesgaden. We rode to the top in the brass elevator that Hitler used. The mountain retreat was a 5oth birthday present designed by Albert Speer, Hitler's chief architect and a member of his inner circle.

Visiting the Swiss Alps

Brrrrrrr! On the day we all travelled to the top of Mt. Titlis, snow was blowing and many people hustled to buy warm clothing. Some people tried out the snow sledding; others went inside a glacier for a brief tour. The view of Engelberg as we rode up and down was spectacular, and many people collected dozens of photos about the experience.

Singing for Our Supper

The meals were a fascinating experience in different cultures. One of the most entertaining took place at a Swiss restaurant. Throughout the evening singers and musicians treated guests to folk music and dancing. In the audience were guests from the United States, Japan, and Australia.
We were impressed by a display of flag throwing. One of the highlights of the evening was a visit by a dancing cow.

Murano Factory Visit

One of the highlights of the trip to Venice was a stop at the Murano Glass Factory. The group was treated to a demonstration of glassblowing.
Later, we flocked into the show room to make some purchases. Glasses and jewelry were among the favorite items.

A Birthday in Song

While in Venice, everyone enjoyed a gondola ride. A singer crooned in the boat of one of the students who was having a birthday while on the trip.
Earlier in the day, the group had toured a grand mansion and spent time shopping in the many small stores packed on the island.

The Sound of Music

For many of the music-oriented members of the trip, Salsburg was a highlight. The gardens where scenes from The Sound of Music were filmed were even more beautiful in reality. Some of the group sang and skipped along the path of Maria.

Later in the day, the group climbed the hill to view the fortress.

Wounded Lion Represents Courage

The group assembled before the Wounded Lion, a statue representing soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice in battle.

Stopping by to see Juliet

After several hours on the plane, we started our journey by visiting Juliet's home in Verona, Italy. As we entered the lane, signatures and comments from past visitors decorated the walls. At the famous Juliet statue, several Shakespeare enthusiasts joined Miss Hinman.
